Riverview Cemetery

P.O. Box 2173
Wilmington, DE 19899

" January 1, 2009 "

The transfer of the cemetery from Mr. Tom Davis (Riverview Gardens, Inc.) to FHRC was scheduled for December 16, 2008 and did not occur because we discovered a huge unpaid tax bill; apparently because Mr. Davis had not filed the proper paperwork since taking ownership in 2003.

The FHRC Board and their attorneys are working with the city and county to resolve this issue and help Mr. Davis so that we may complete the transfer of the cemetery to FHRC. We will notify our members and issue a press release when we have more details.

The Friends of Historic Riverview Cemetery (FHRC) incorporated with the State of Delaware on April 17, 2008. Our checking account is at Wilmington Trust. The Delaware Community Foundation provides our 501c (3) non-profit status and is our source for saving and investing money for perpetual care. The FHRC application for our own 501c/3 was mailed on November 10, 2008.

  • Renovation of Chapel
  • Fundraising
  • Publicity

Do you have a suggestion not on the list? We'd love to hear about it.

    Partnerships:

We want to increase our volunteer partnerships with homeowner associations, churches, schools, rotaries, and other community groups who may be interested in the restoration and preservation of Riverview Cemetery. If you have a contact person within these groups, please make them aware of the Friends of Historic Riverview Cemetery and notify one of the officers at friendsofficers@gmail.com.

    Need for Signs:

Once the cemetery transfer is complete, signs will be posted at all three gates so the community knows that Riverview Cemetery has new ownership. The signs will have our website and phone number so the officers can easily communicate with the public. A prototype has been designed and we are seeking donations to pay for these signs.

    Chapel Committee:

Unfortunately we were unable to tour the chapel before the end of 2008 because settlement was postponed. If you would like to serve on a building usage and renovation committee, contact friendsofficers@gmail.com.
