Local Heroes
Local Heroes
Since its founding in 1872, Riverview Cemetery has become the final resting for some 36,000 souls. These people came from all walks of life and enjoyed many different professions. Paramount among these were those individuals who served their local communities as firefighters – those brave men and women who put their lives on the line to protect the lives and property of their fellow citizens. Some gave their lives in the line of duty, some retired and went on to do other things, some only provided this service for a short period of time before moving on to some other profession. Regardless of the circumstances, we regard them all as true local heroes, and it is here that we recognize those firefighters who are interred at Riverview Cemetery.
